What are Biofireplaces?

Biofireplaces are fireplaces powered by bioethanol. They are design and furnishing products that are used in the autumn, winter and spring seasons to create a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

Bioethanol fireplaces can be divided into three categories:

— Built-in biofireplaces, to be built into the wall, there are many shapes and sizes;

— Wall biofireplaces, to be fixed to the wall, very elegant;

— Floor biofireplaces, to be placed on the floor, there are some models to be inserted into old fireplaces or to be placed on the table.

Biofireplaces are built in solid stainless steel and have elegant shapes with a modern design.

 What is bioethanol?

Bioethanol is a fuel that does not produce fumes, bad odours and unburned residues. It is produced through a fermentation process from biomass, i.e. from agricultural products rich in carbohydrates and sugars, such as cereals, sugar crops, starches and pomace. The smell of bioethanol is similar to alcohol, but during combustion it is totally odorless.

Bioethanol is a natural fuel of plant origin, it is a clean and therefore renewable heat source.

How does the Biofireplace work?

The biofireplace has a burner into which bioethanol is poured, the fuel that allows it to function.

How do you light the bio fireplace?

With a long lighter, set the bioethanol on fire and the flame will light up.

A tip: before lighting the bioethanol you need to blow on it to eliminate the vapors.

When the biofireplace lights up, do not pour more bioethanol until it has cooled.

How is the biofireplace installed?

The bio fireplace does not require major installation work: it arrives already “assembled”.

If it is to be recessed, it is only necessary to insert it into the hole in the previously prepared wall. Finally, insert the burner into the dedicated space and secure the glass with the pins, if the biofireplace chosen has protective glass.

If the biofireplace is to be mounted on the wall, it is screwed into the wall and then the burner is inserted in the dedicated space.

If, however, the bioethanol fireplace is a floor model, all you need to do is position it as you wish and insert the burner in the dedicated space, finally insert the bioethanol and light it.

Bioethanol fireplaces do not require a flue.

Does the biofireplace really heat?

Yes, bioethanol fireplaces give off real heat. Depending on the capacity of the fireplace burner and the intensity of the flame, bioethanol fireplaces are able to heat a room of approximately 20-30 m2.

It is advisable to never leave the fireplace lit unattended and not to use it in rooms that are too closed and without air exchange.

Where to use the biofireplace?

Bio fireplaces are ideal for use in all rooms to create a warmth similar to a fireplace, it helps to heat some rooms, it is often used in mid-seasons to avoid turning on the radiators.

It is also widely used to create a warm and pleasant atmosphere, it is always nice to see a fire lit when it is cold.

Is it worth using a biofireplace?

Bioethanol costs between €2.20 and €3.50 per litre, and one liter lasts from an hour to an hour and a half depending on the biofireplace model.

Another economic advantage of bioethanol fireplaces: 

    • they do not use the chimney,

    • their installation is simple and quick,

    • do not require maintenance.
